Pinwheel sweater contest.

Lets have some fun. Here is the situation: I want to make the Pinwheel Sweater from elann.com for myself. I am on a yarn diet. I have 3-4 balls of each colour shown in the photo below. I want to use "some" of the colours that I have. I am able to suppliment some other colours from ellan.com. What colours should I use? Please leave a comment and let me know what you think. I know that all the colours do not go together but I want to use up some leftovers. When I decide what colours to go with, the person who "helped" me choose those colours will get a prize.
What is the prize? I'm not sure yet, but it will probably be a ball of yarn.
Also, please let me know where you heard about this contest.
The contest wil lbe open until June 23 (the start date for the KAL).

Hi all,
Based on the photos I just posted, my knitting is back to normal. As usual, I have several projects going at once and a few more lined up.
I am knitting a pair of socks for DAK for a lovely lady who is in the hospital. No photos yet. A sweater for me in the thinking stage, maybe a sleeves in your pi.

Mystery shawl 4. It is a Pi shawl. I am using black laceweight from handpaintedyarn.com on size 3.25mm circular needles. It is a fun knit.

Here is my tote exchange project in the works. I have finished the knitting and now it needs to be felted and the handles made. I used elann.com highland wool.

Here is my progress photo for the Six Sox Knit along. The pattern is called colour blox but I am using only one colour. I don't have very much sock yarn yet. This will probably be for Gary.

Back to normal.

Is there such a thing as normal?
Well, after B and G being gone for 2 weeks and then one week after that my father and wife visiting from Florida I an looking forward to some sence of normal.
We had a nice visit with my father. He left yesterday. We did a lot of tourist things that we haven't done since moving here.
Today we are back at school and back at knitting.
I have my daughters camera back so now I can post some photos.

B's top down sweater. I have no idea how to put a zipper on a knitted sweater, especially with elastic yarn. We will be taking it out and trying again. Better luck next time.

Amaziing Lace Challenge # 1

Meet the team.

The team consists of me (the knitter), the needles (Denise interchangable needles), the pattern (Garden Path shawl from ellan.com), and the yarn (Peece Fleece).
We are all equal members in this team and we are only as strongest as our weakest link (hopefully that will not be a join in the needles).
We started our relationship, as many start these days, on the internet.
I met Denise needles less than a year ago and we just fell in love. I love that she is so versitile and handy will all size projects. She is an integral part of this amazing team.
I have been an avid fan of elann.com since I started knitting 3 years ago. Elann.com graciously introduced myself and "The Pattern". We met only recently and after perusing the details decided we could make this work. The pattern is also easily adaptable, which is important in this type of lace.
The next piece of the team is some fingering weight wool from Peace fleece in a lovely heather grey/green colour. My only concern with the yarn is that she might not be able to go the distance, but with the adaptability of the pattern and myself, we will work this out as needed.
And last, but not least, is myself. I have been knitting for about 3 years and knitting lace for the same time. Nobody told me I had to start with scarves, progress to socks, sweaters, and then lace. I just jumped right in with my first lace pattern (Tripple Mohair shawl from fiddlesticks). I have been knitting up a storm ever since and consider myself an intermediate knitter.
We are the team to beat! Despite a last minute entry, we will be the forerunners in this "Amazing Lace".
Looking forward to meeting other teams along the way.

Home Safe and Sound

Hi All,
I am thrilled to have my husband and daughter back from Romania safe and sound. They arrived home on Monday night, right on schedule (which is amazing with Air canada). They are adapting to the 8 hour time change and are full of wonderful, and sometimes heartbreaking, stories about their time in the orphanages.
With them gone I have not had much time to knit, but I have been working in the yard. I planted a flower garden as well as a vegetable garden.
We had wonderful people look after us with them gone. We had a lot of people drop in and others invite us over. That made the two weeks go by faster.
My youngest (5 yrs old) has just broken out with chicken pox today and has a bit of a fever. He is not feeling like himself and so I am getting lots of cuddle time. He even slept on my lap for an hour. If he is not up and running about we know something is wrong.
My father and his wife come to visit on Friday for a week. They are from Florida and we ahve not seen them in almost 3 years. The children are really excited to see their grandparents again.
I hope to get back to knitting soon. I really miss it, but it can wait better than the garden can.
Well that's all the news for now.
With my daughter back (and her camera) I hope to post some photos soon.

Amazing Lace Team

I think I have my team together for the Amazing Lace Challenge. The team consists of me, my Peace Fleece yarn, size US9 (5.2mm) circular Denise needles, and the Garden Path shawl from www.elann.com .
we make quite a team and are quite excited to get started. The first challenge comes out on Sunday, May 14.

Ramblings...

My husband is away so I feel like I have no one to talk to except the children. As a result you are the lucky ones that get to "listen" to my ramblings.
I got weighed and measured at Curves today and in 2 months I have lost 20 pounds and 18 1/2 inches. Yes, it is all due to diet (Mannatech low glycemic) and exercise.
We have water in our basement that will be a real pain to fix and our landlord just offered to sell us the house. We love the house and property and location but not sure we want to deal with the problems that come with it.
Homeschooling is drawing to a close for the year. The children just have a couple of subjects to finish so the school day is pretty short right now.
Time to start working in hte garden. First year we are having a garden and are on a huge learning curve. Gary got it tilled before he left and I have to have it planted before he gets back.
I must be a knit along addict (My mother says I have an addictive personality). I just joined the "Amacing Lace Contest" and have to pick a pattern to make. I am looking at one of the free shawl patterns from elann.com and yarn from my stash.
I am knitting a pair of socks for Jocelyne for beeing such a big help this week.
Well, my youngest is whining to get on the "puter" so I had better go and let him on.
